Over 40 Years of Proven Success

  • "Regardless of their life circumstances, AVID students overcome obstacles and achieve success. They graduate and attend college at higher rates, but more importantly, they can think critically, collaborate, and set high expectations to confidently conquer the challenges that await them.
In 47 states across the U.S., K–16 educators are driving student success through engaging, rigorous, and student-centered learning environments."

Pleasant Grove is proud to be an AVID School:  Advancement Via Individual Determination. In order to support student growth in organization, we have school wide AVID binders. These 3 ring 2 inch binders contain the following:
  • pencil pouches with 1 red, 1 blue, and 1 black pen, 2 sharpened pencils, scissors, glue stick, 3 different colored highlighters
  • 5 Tab colored dividers
  • College ruled filler paper
  • PG Student Planner- 1 per student provided by school
  • 1 Clear sleeve paper protector

Each classroom will reinforce organizational skills through the use of these binders.  All students will have weekly organizational binder checks in order to teach and reinforce organization.  Donations of $15 per binder are requested and can be made through the office or during Puma Walk.  Cash or checks only.  If your family needs assistance with aquiring and AVID Binder, contact the front office.

What is AVID
Top of Page

"AVID students reflect and question while mastering content rather than just repeating and memorizing. Our students work together to problem solve and to change the level of discourse in the classroom as they prepare for success. Students are taught to articulate what they don’t understand and learn how to seek out the resources they need. By teaching critical thinking, inquiry, and self-advocacy, AVID educators empower students to own their learning. Try this speaking and listening activity for a sample of how AVID teaches soft skills."

Pleasant Grove is invested in  our students and staff.  Staff members regularly engage in AVID professional learning opportunities so they can better help all students succeed.  Chek out AVID.Org for more information on the teaching strategies and beliefs that AVID educators hold.
