Principal's Corner
It's that time of year again. As we gear up for school to start, the Pleasant Grove staff would like to welcome everyone back. We are all looking forward to a great school year. Throughout the year, we are excited to work towards our school's mission: Pleasant Grove Middle School will provide every student with a high standard of academic learning combined with personal and social development in a collaborative, healthy, inclusive, and positive environment. As an AVID school, Pleasant Grove supports AVID's mission "to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society."
Additionally, we are excited to share with parents and students our school's PBIS, Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports Program. This program focuses on creating positive, clear, and consistent behavior systems for students. It also focuses on recognizing students who are making appropriate choices. This program couples well with the school's merit system. Please see our attached behavior matrix for more details. Each month, we will outline various aspects of the program as we continue our work in implementation.
Please join us at Back to School Night on August 13, 5:30-6:00 in the Gym for an orientation surrounding AVID and Athletics. 6:00-8:00 PM meet your child's teachers and visit classrooms. Pleasant Grove is proud to be an AVID School:  Advancement Via Individual Determination. In order to support student growth in organization, we have school wide AVID binders. These 3 ring 2 inch binders contain the following:
  • pencil pouches with 1 red, 1 blue, and 1 black pen, 2 sharpened pencils, scissors, glue stick, 3 different colored highlighters
  • 5 Tab colored dividers
  • College ruled filler paper
  • PG Student Planner- 1 per student provided by school
  • 1 Clear sleeve paper protector
Each classroom will reinforce organizational skills through the use of these binders.  Donations of $15 per binder are requested and can be made through the office or during Puma Walk.  Cash or checks only
PTO Corner:
A great way to get involved in the school is to support our PTO and/or support PTO sponsored events. The first PTO sponsored event will be during Back to School Night with smoothies for sale.
PTO will also be present at the PUMA Walk to raise support for our school by providing a chance for parents to become a PTO Supporter and/or donate funds to PTO.
Lastly, one of the easiest ways to support PTO is by collecting and saving box tops. Start collecting now, so your child can turn them in for the box top competition taking place later in the year.
